luftgekühlt 6 coverage for Type 7 / Porsche
Campaign imagery for Deus Ex Machina’s Spring / Summer ‘19 collection, shot on location in Bali. Art direction by Carby Tuckwell, styling by Jackson Burke.
Shot for Type 7, a Porsche project.
It’s dark, the sun is yet to rise. To my left, the driver Al, behind me, the song of an air cooled flat four. We’re the only thing awake and kicking, traveling on a road I’m told will take us to our destination. This two lane road is unfamiliar to me, but not to Al, he’s grown up around these parts. As the sun begins to rise, the ocean to our left reveals itself, Al swaps the gas pedal for the brakes and shifts the car into a lower gear. Pulling over, under a “Jurassic Park” like sign declaring the start of the Great Ocean Road.
Regarded as one of the best coastal roads in Australia, The Great Ocean Road stretches out for 300km, leading to natural monuments such as the twelve apostles. First laid down in 1919 by returning WW1 soldiers, this road possess views I am told, will not disappoint. The sun rises and we jump back into the 69’ 912, quickly before the buses of tourists that frequent this road begin to show up.
How far would we go? Who knew. Where were we going? I didn’t know. But I knew one thing for certain, this was the right vehicle with the right driver.
